Jon Gailmor Music Program

The Jon Gailmor Music Program at Tamim honors the life, legacy, and enduring spirit of Jon Gailmor, an extraordinary musician, songwriter, performer, and educator whose music touched generations of children and families throughout Vermont and beyond.

Jon believed that music is for everyone. Through his warmth, humor, creativity, and genuine love for children, he inspired young people to sing, listen, create, and express themselves with confidence. His songs celebrated community, kindness, imagination, and the joy found in everyday moments. As an educator, he understood that music is not only an art form, but also a powerful tool for connection, learning, and personal growth.

Established in his memory, the Jon Gailmor Music Program seeks to bring Jon's vision to life for Tamim students. The program envisions a dedicated music educator visiting the school weekly, working with two classes each week and providing consistent, age-appropriate musical experiences throughout the school year.

At its core, the program will focus on the joy of music and helping children develop a love for rhythm, movement, listening, and creative expression. As students grow, instruction can expand to include foundational music theory, singing, instrument exploration, songwriting, and performance opportunities. The goal is not simply to teach music, but to cultivate creativity, confidence, collaboration, and a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

We are aiming to raise $25,000  to give the program a strong start and enable it to keep going with weekly instruction by a qualified music educator. This would include funds allocated to building and maintaining the school's musical inventory, including quality rhythm instruments and classroom resources such as shakers, percussion instruments, hand drums, and other tools that support hands-on musical learning.

By investing in the Jon Gailmor Music Program, supporters help ensure that future generations of Tamim students experience the same sense of wonder and connection that Jon brought to every classroom and performance. Through music, his legacy will continue to inspire children to find their voices, discover their talents, and experience the joy of creating together.
